Since graduating from Reykjavík School of Visual Arts, Bergrún has illustrated books for several publishers and written ten books of her own.
In 2019 The Missing Teacher was the first book to receive The Guðrún Helgadóttir Book Award. The book was extremely well received, both among critics and readers. The Missing Teacher later went on to win the Women’s Literary Prize in 2020.
The weather books, written and illustrated by Bergrún Íris received rave reviews and nominations. Vinur minn, vindurinn (My friend, the wind) was nominated in 2015 for

The Best Book of Cars was written and illustrated by Bergrún with the tecnhical help of her mechanic father, Sævar Siggeirsson, in his garage. The book itselfs transforms into a roadway and the reader uses puzzle-cars from the front page to drive through a fun and educational story. Published in the fall of 2016.
